This WP contributes to the project objectives by defining and applying hydrological and ecological indicators related to optimal ecological discharge under changing regimes imposed by management issues (such as hydropower production) and climate change. It also assesses the resistance and resilience of ecosystems to water scarcity. Ecological effects on the ecosystem goods and services, as well as mitigation and adaptation strategies such as water re-use are to be suggested. The output of this work package are also to 1) reduce potential conflicts between hydro-electric producers, artificial snow producers and natural resource managers and other stakeholders of alpine waters 2) Demonstrate successful cooperation, dialogue and exchange between water users, research scientists, legislative authorities, administration and private offices at the pan-alpine level and to 3) Implement ecologically more effective flow regimes in respective test rivers by participating hydropower enterprises, agriculturalists and local tourism managers.
